Is there a way to disable audio play when in the select episode menu? This is very well, to be honest, very annoying. You are trying to find an episode in Plex to watch, and the first 20 seconds of a random episode plays? There has to be a way to turn this off? No other variant of XBMC I have used has done this by default, only Rasplex.
I have never had any 'random episode' play in RasPlex myself.
I think you are confusing this with the background theme music, which has a specific setting to disable it.
This feature is implemented in most Plex clients, though some may have it disabled by default.
It's not an XBMC feature but a Plex feature, which is why you wouldn't have it in non-Plex XBMC usage.
I agree with you that this theme music is an annoying feature, so I always disable it in the client settings/preferences.
Exactly where to find the flag which enables/disables this feature depends on the version of RasPlex that you use, since different versions of RasPlex are based on different versions of PHT (Plex Home Theater). The latest experimental versions of RasPlex are based on the new 1.0.x series of PHT versions, where the setting can be found as follows:
A1: In main menu, press DPad_left to open the leftside menu.
A2: In leftside menu open "Preferences". This should directly bring you to the "Appearance" section of preferences.
A3: Move cursor down to "Theme Music". This should open the settings sheet for theme music in the righthand section of the screen.
A4: Move cursor to the righthand section and 'untick' the box for "Enable TV theme music".
If you are using one of the 'stable' RasPlex releases (v0.3.1 and older) then it is based on the old 0.9.x series of PHT versions, where you find the setting as follows:
B1: In main menu, move the highlight cursor to "Preferences" and open that submenu.
B2: In the foldout menu for Preferences move the cursor to "Music" and open that submenu.
B3: In the Music preferences menu's righthand part, move the cursor to "Background" and open that submenu.
B4: Move the cursor into the lefthand part to select the entry "Enable Theme Music" and 'unmark' it. (so its orange dot disappears)
After using either of these methods you should be able to browse your TV shows without any background theme music.
