Apologies if I've missed a setting, but can I check if Background Music is back in Plex -- as in the ability to manually specify a file to play in the background when generally browsing media/idle (separate to TV show background music)?
I'd seen some mention it in beta's a while back but not sure if this feature has been removed again?

Seems to work if you drop your files in the mentioned folder. But there's a multi-channel audio bug being reported as well that might not be fixed. Check out this thread from the post I've linked to the end. Hope this helps! https://forums.plex.tv/topic/31415-background-music/?p=420633
Yeah I'd seen that, the problem is I can't find the option to turn it on in the settings, so not sure if I'm missing something.
There was background music, then it went away, then it stayed away, then it came back, and now it seems to have gone away again 
Hopefully the devs and background music kiss and make up so it can come back to the party. It’s greatly missed

1. is the music plex automatically grabs
2. is manually added to the tv folder.

2. you add the file to the root of the tv show folder, then go to settings/agents put the local media assets at the top and it will use the local file. I put local media assets at the top on all of the agents.

This wasn't what I meant, there was a long time ago background music.
When you fired plex up, if you placed a folder titled "Background Music" into the Plex Media Server directory and filled it will MP3's, those MP3's would play while your browsing any and all parts of plex, then when you came to a TV Show that had the theme music that your describing, the background music would fade out and the TV Theme song would play, then when it was done the background music would start playing again.
When you played a movie, the music stopped and when the movie ended the music would start back up again.
Think of it as Music to Browse by.
Plex had this feature it disappeared , then when Plex Home Theater came out the feature was turned on for a point release or two but apparently there were some bugs that caused it to disappear.
I still remain hopeful that it will come back once again. Could fill the background music folder with music trivia like when you go to an AMC theater before the previews and movie run.
We got trailer support! Now we just need background music, and a "Please take a moment to locate the exits in the front and rear of the theater" and a "feature presentation" roll and we will be just like at the movies.
Will plex eventually serve butter flavored popcorn anytime soon? :-)
