Disable Plex Authentication / Only Require User PIN Code

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1552

I’m setting up a Plex Server for our sailboat. We have 4 cabins and 5 TVs on board. I’ve got Plex Server setup on the Synology NAS, and everything is almost set up the way I’d like. The only thing that I’m stuck on is disabling the Plex authentication. Guests will not have a plex account (or know what Plex even is). Also, most of the time, we do not have internet connectivity on board.

How do I disable the plex authentication, so that visitors can choose which user they want to log in to “Unrestricted” or “Everyone”, and enter the account PIN?

I did try to IP address exclusion feature in the Network settings, but that seems to open up the Plex server to anyone on the network, all libraries, full access (not what I want).

Home is a PlexPass thing, and as such, can only be validated online!

So a Home user needs a PMS, that is online

When said, when using home users, you need to sign-in as the owner on every device first, and tell the app to remember credentials

After logging in, it should be cached on the PMS as well as the client, if the client supports that
(Not all do)

When also said, the player should be setup to access the PMS with a direct IP Address, since it can’t contact plex.tv, and not all players have that option!
