Is there anyway to disable subtitles completely on DLNA? My Sony AndroidTV has a built in player that after a recent plex server update, always plays the subtitles. I use that player because Sony doesn’t adhere to standard audio implementation on android, so it’s the only way to play native dts/multi-channel audio.
So I found the original remote, and was able to disable closed captioning using that. However, if anyone knows how to disable subtitles server side, let us know.

If you are using a DLNA player, then there should be a setting within the player. There is no setting in PMS to not use subtitles if they exist.
Actually, let me take that back. I don’t know if it applies to DLNA, but there is a setting under your account to control automatic selection of subtitles.
