"Disable video stream transcoding" disables optimizing

Server Version 1.18.8.2468:
Player Version 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8:

I tried the feauture “Disable video stream transcoding” to get a predictable load on my server by optimizing media before playing them instead of transcoding them on the fly.
But when disabling the video stream transcoding, Plex will also stop optimizing media explicitly. I’d like to disable automatic transcoding while being able to optimize media in Plex.

This is what is looks with transcoding enabled:

This is without transcoding enabled, it simply stops without any warning or similar:
plex_transcoding_disabled

Just want to chime in here and say I also want this feature, would be nice to be able to use just a little more storage for a lower quality option for mobile devices, but not force a trasncode.

I agree with the problem. If I switch off the “Stream transcoding”, the films are no longer converted and it remains in the position as described above.

i dont know if that shows up in the Logs. but i tried to reproduce the problem with a movie, first with “Disable stream transcoding” enabled:
