Discover Crunchyroll Android TV links not working

Player Version#: 10.13.0.466 on a NVIDIA Shield Pro

After enabling discover, installing the Crunchyroll android TV app from the play store and adding Crunchyroll to “Your Selected Service”, selecting Crunchyroll from watch from these locations results in an error “We are unable to launch Crunchyroll on this device. Would you like to search the app store for it?”

Some observations:

  • Installing the mobile Crunchyroll app onto Android TV results in the link working (but is obviously unusable due to the screen size).
  • This does not seem to be an issue with an android phone.

My guess would be that either the plex app is not linking correctly to the android tv version of Crunchyroll and is instead linking to the mobile one (based on my observations) or that the android tv Crunchyroll app doesn’t support deep links.

Is there any way I can get some support for this? There doesn’t seem to be any mention of this on the forums.

Is there anyway to get a confirmation if this is a bug? If so what is the proper reporting method for this? As a longtime plex user I recognize that these forums are mostly cosmetic but some part of me hopes plex bugs are still taken at least for consideration.

This has been investigated.
I am told that this is indeed a restriction of the Crunchyroll app for Android TV.
There is unfortunately nothing Plex can do about it, except asking Crunchyroll. I understand this has already been done as well.
