Hey all, was wondering if it's possible to use a different app instead of trailers? If so please explain. I kinda like the trailers app lol.
This has been discussed and requested many times but at this stage, its currently not possible.
I have now set up plexconnect to be used on Crunchyroll. So now the trailer app is back again. Sems to work smoother on Crunchyroll app. Maybe it just me. Has anyone else done this?

I have been pondering doing this myself, glad to hear you have good results.
Could you perhaps post a tutorial on how you did it? The one I saw didn’t work, a github fork would be even better.
I would like to know myself, as I actually use the trailer app quite often :)
Just be aware that things may break and we will NOT support it, e.g. Some apps will not work at all, some apps are only available in certain countries, DRM content on the some apps (e.g. NBA) will not play, the new music implementation may not work on some apps etc...
We are going to look at this but given the above potential issues and resources it is not a high priority.
If someone wants to create a list of all the apps and test what is and is not working it might speed up official support (i.e. a config option in settings.cfg) for app choice.

I will try out the Crunchyroll app foe a while and let you know. I could never get any DRM content that it had bought from iTunes to play on the trailers app

Btw DRM content should play fine on the trailers app as it has been tested as working (i believe it does actually work on the Crunchyroll one as well).
The crunchyroll app would be perfect since I'm guessing that a majority of people aren't using it, and would also like to be using the actual trailers app. I'm very curious to see your work on this 1975jamie

But be aware he was using the old Elan branch and didn't appear to be aware of potential problems.

I download the new plexconnect from gib. I then went though and made all the changes. All at this time seems to be working. I will test some more and let everyone know.

Wow, this is *very* cool. I did not realize this modification was so easy. PlexConnect dev's: Can we make the URL a configurable variable? It seems like that would not be a difficult task at all and would be handy for people wanting to expiriment.
I'd say the ability to select between crunchyroll and trailers is a *huge* bonus to an already awesome app.

Yes it very easy. If you have a mac it a breeze. Just use textedit and find and replace. It will find all the trailers.apple.com and change it to www.crunchyroll.com. Then all you need to do is go into the one file and change it. Anyone need help just ask. I did it last night in about 20 mins

You might want to read my earlier comments about why we have not already.
We also had some ideas about enabling the trailer applications within PlexConnect, which would be much better if it ever works. ;)

That is exactly what i am talking about.
They work for us, are you signed into your iTunes account on your ATV, if not maybe it is not authorised to play them.
Maybe it would be sufficient to move adress to settings.cfg Would not clutter settings screen and would be kind of a advanced setting.
