Discover Watchlist - cannot add recorded TV shows

Discover is fantastic! I can add library and streaming services movies to the Watchlist, but only streaming services TV shows to the Watchlist. Is the inability to add previously recorded TV shows to the Watchlist intentional or a feature to be added in updated Discover versions?

Thanks,

Brian

(I have a Mac mini server & iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV for viewing)

Only items which are matched to the new Plex metadata agents can be added to the watchlist.

Recorded OTA programs are often not matched, but simply use the metadata which were supplied by the TV program guide (EPG) at the time of the recording.
While it may be possible to match recorded tv shows to the Plex meta data agents, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Because very often the season and episode numbers don’t match, the order of episodes is different and other issues.
And once the original metadata have been overridden by the Plex metadata agents, you can’t revert to the EPG metadata. So you can potentially end up with a big mess.

Can we do that automatically for recorded movies then? It’s odd to not have any actor data and strange old posters for my recorded movies.

Do what?

Have it scan automatically, using the movie agent, rather than this no-scan metadataless agent that scans DVR TV shows.

You realize that this thread is precisely about why doing that is a bad idea?

You just gave a reason (a good one) for TV shows to not use the metadata to match. TV Guide data for episode number/season is almost always wrong. But movie data seems more reliable to me.
