And is Plex a US company and have servers in the US? The reason I ask is because I don't like the thought of the US government or Hollywood having unfettered access to user information.

No,
The database is on your Plex server.
No information about your the stuff in your library is stored on any Plex servers. As George is saying, it is on your local computer only.
I'm confused. how is this possible?
Edit: I just realized this is an old post. I'm sorry about that. But I'm still wondering how myPlex knows my library of a offline server?
Because you connected it with myplex and/or published/unpublished it and now its offline, or it used to be connected once and now it isnt anymore?
Well MatthewsDesktop is my old server and hasn’t been seen since December 9th. If myPlex doesn’t store any data then how does myPlex know what’s in my libraries on an offline server?

It knows you had a server, which last connected on dec 9th, it knows that server has sections called whatever, and it knows who you've shared those sections with, but it has no idea what is in those sections.
You can always use the option Delete server on that page ;)
Remove this server from myPlex
I understand what your saying. But then I’m confused on how myPlex knows what is in each section(The movie posters that appear in myPlex). It can’t do a simple a pi call the server because that server is offline and has been offline for a few weeks.
I know I can delete my servers, but what would I benefit from plexpass?
My problem isn’t that myPlex knows what is in each section. Just that plex employees says that myPlex stores no data at all.
I have now removed my server from myPlex as Plex is definitely storing some form of data.
With the recent information regarding the NSA and US service providers it would not be a stretch to say that NSA can have access to all information that plex stores.

it doesn't know - when you add something new to your library, PMS sends a thumbnail to myplex, myplex has no idea what that is a thumbnail of, it is just an image.

It also wouldn't be a stretch that they can have access to everything on your pc.
Thank you for the reply Trudge, that makes sense as I can’t find any identify information assiocated with the thumbnails. I was upset before because we were told one thing and the oppose was happening. But now the new privacy policy and terms of service allows Plex Inc. to do this.

this sounds like a reasonable response and not over reacting at all
