Does Rasplex run on an early Raspberry Pi Model B?

I have not had any use for plex up to now but I have a need for an audio only media server to deliver my digital audio to my streamer preferably in flac format. I have tested with my pc and that works fine but I don’t want to leave my pc on all of the time so as I have some PI’s about has anyone tried running Rasplex on an early pi model B ?

I have tried. It doesnt run decently at all.

Plex is a bit overkill for that. Have you looked into Squeezelite/Logitech Media Server ? The equivalent to Rasplex (an all in one distribution that you flash onto an SD card) is called PiCorePlayer. You can run the server or client or both on a Raspberry.

For audio-only the RasPi is not ideal, unless you upgrade it with a HiFiberry extension. The sound quality of the original headphone jack is a disgrace.

Your needs may be fulfilled better by a ‘ChromeCast Audio’.
