Does real support even exist?

The last so-called upgrade was a DOWN GRADE!
I have hosted a blog for Cutting the Cord and have recommended PLEX many times! NOT ANYMORE!
PLEX has taken full control away from me and now my files are NOT my files!
My favorite music has been hijacked and some has been substituted with stuff that is NOT of MY choosing!
I realize you PLEX wants to increase income, but it should NOT be at the cost of the many loyal PLEX subscribers that have been members for many years!
Change is NOT always good! THIS IS BAD! NO IT’S HORRIBLE!!!

I wonder what you mean by

If you’re referring to some of the online media sources and you don’t like them… simply disable them for your account.
https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

Beyond that I’m not aware of Plex touching your files at all (except you configure it specifically to allow deleting media from the user interface… but it doesn’t sound like that’s the issue at hand).

I doubt if this responder is with PLEX support, because I am NOT referring to online services, ONLY the content that is included In the last HORRIBLE update, which I wish I had neverf opened!!!
If anyone has a reasonably easy way to return to my original PLEX, BEFORE the so-called upgrade that is full of ads, then give me THAT INFO!! PLEASE!

what does this mean? you made a favorite playlist or something? Were albums/tracks mismatched?

You can edit the library to prefer embedded metadata to what it matches with online sources.

We don’t inject ads into any personal media content so please be more descriptive of what you mean.

Thank you for the info. I’ll try to follow your suggested fix.

The ads are in the files for PLEX added content, like Movies, etc,. only since the last upgrade.

Even the Pet Collective has ads & I have always loved Plex for taking out most of the ads & I do NOT want ANY of that content.

Thank you for you very kind attention to this matter.

Would you mind elaborating a bit where exactly you’re seeing those ads?
Previously you had answered this isn’t about the Plex online media sources (e.g. the “Movies & Shows on Plex” or “Live TV Streaming” sections) – though your last response seems to imply it’s actually about content “added by Plex”. I’m not sure what content you’re referring at.

Plex only has an option to remove (or skip) ads from videos you recorded yourself through Plex DVR – is that where you’re experiencing your issue?

I’m especially confused because previously you talked about Plex messing up your music – is that still an issue? If so, would you mind to share how it’s been “hijacked and substituted”.

That makes it rather tricky to assist.

This is a follow up to my original post and hopefully to the NICE person who responded suggesting I change the metadata, which worked temporarily. ONLY Temporarily!
Is there a way to reverse the last major PLEX upgrade?
I realize that PLEX wants to add to it’s revenue, but why not allow the OLDER Lifetime members the option to continue with their original membership in PEACE???

How the heck can 3 of my favorite music albums just disappear? I DO NOT WANT “Radio” or anything else! I want SIMPLE!
I moved all of the new stuff to the bottom, but the upgrade keeps driving me crazy! I’m OLD and dying and just want PLEX to work the way it used to for a few more years at best!

if you only want to see a list of things in your music library then click Library view. In the web app it is at the top.

If you don’t want to see some of the recommended rows then disable them in the libraries recommend settings where you can select where to see them

https://support.plex.tv/articles/manage-recommendations/

The LIBRARY is NOT the problem!

It’s the huge upgrade that created the problem!!

It loaded a bunch of stuff that I wiill never use!
I tried a few Pet Collectives and when I realized that they were full of ads, I never went back!

I wish I had never clicked on the upgrade!!! Can I go back to the previous or original PLEX???

What does that mean. What is a “Pet Collective”??

If you mean the streaming stuff which is supported by the ads, you can turn them off at your account level and they won’t show in any app for your account. Those are not part of your server and have nothing to do with the version of the server.

You can do that at https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

If you mean “Collections” You can disable the auto creation of collections in your library settings. If you don’t even want to see your manually created collections in with the other content you can disable that too. This screen shot is of a library settings that uses the Plex Movie agent

The Pet Collective is one of the free / ad-supported streaming channels.

@pakclt_att_net did you click the link @tom80H and @BigWheel provided? You can disable the free online ad-supported streaming stuff yourself.

The only reason I mentioned Pet Collective is due to the FACT that it is one of many TV shows that is NOW part of the NEW lineup in the last huge PLEX update and it has ADS!! MY favorite 3 MUSIC albums completely disappeared! I did NOT & would not delete them! Before they disappeared, several other albums by the same artist, Barry Manilow, appeared…apparently out of then air!!!
One of the other albums was Johnny Mathis! It’s gone too! These were albums that I played regularly when I would take a nap or just want to listen to something soothing. I used to dance on TV when I was young, so I have a lot of rock & roll!
I may be OLD. but I’m not senile!
I thank you for trying, but we don’t seem to be on the same page.

What stuff? Channels? The rows of different content types of content like Recently Added? The bottom of what screen/section?

As far as music are you talking bout Music Channels in the live TV section, or are you talking about albums in your music library on your server?

I couldn’t take it anymore, so I deleted the entire MUSIC folder!
It was controlling ME instead of ME controlling IT!
Even as I was deleting the files Neil Sedaka was playing from the other end of the house!
I couldn’t even play a movie and pause it without the damned music playing when I paused the movie!

I’M DONE!

Maybe we’re all being thick, but I don’t think anybody understands what you are complaining about.

If you wanted to share screenshots of what’s happening to you? Or a more detailed description of the problems that are happening?

I’ve never experienced unwanted Neil Sadaka. I would be pretty frustrated too.
