Does Watchlist make Playlists Redundant?

Does Discover Watchlist make Playlists for movies & tv shows redundant?

If not, a suggestion - add playlists to the Home Screen menu beside Watchlist. That way all the lists can be accessed from one spot.

It rather resembles what we use to have called Watch Later, which also allowed links from other external sources, mainly YouTube at that time. Plex would just simply stream whatever video links were added. Watch Later was removed and left us with nothing but Queue and Static Playlists. However, a Watchlist was never added as a replacement for Watch Later up until now. It’s not redundant to Playlists as they each have their own usage.

A solution in the in between time was to manually create a static playlist that was named Watchlist. This was manual labor until Smart Playlists were finally introduced, which then allowed filtering of watched content to be released from the list automatically when the viewing status changed.

There’s always pros and cons to each use case for each of features, including Collections.

If you haven’t seen the Library Management tool, you can already move playlists around on the hubs for its respected library. Click on Library Playlists and check the box listed for Home to activate it. Then use the 3 lines to move up or down the importance of hierarchy.
