Dolby cut out of Win 11 24h2

Well, the day we knew that was coming. M$ killed Dolby AC-3 and E-AC support in the 24h2 update.

The question now becomes, how to fix this?
I tried importing the codec by hand, didn’t fix it.
Tried K-Lite install, didnt work.
Tried LAV, didn’t work either.

Is anyone from here already rolling the 24h2 release preview update yet and found a quick solutuion?
Or is it possible that our friends here @Plex will find a work around?

Because a lot of ‘homebrew’ TV series run with EAC, that is now soundless

Euhm, yeah thanks for reading and commenting in advance. I am really curious if anyone has a solution

Thanks

Killed where? In the web browser?
Or did they remove the systemwide codecs?

I’d try this first, then reboot: Releases · Nevcairiel/LAVFilters · GitHub

What player are you using exactly?
Do you use a sound interface in or on the computer?
Or are you trying to funnel the audio stream undecoded through to your AVR or soundbar?

They dropped the support in Windows alltogether!

I run Win 11, on PC.
Ran both the normal plex app and the HTPC one and browser.
So with the Plex app, no audio, Plex HTPC, no audio. Browser does give audio (Chrome)

And i just use a headset on a PC, so nothing special there (Steelseries Nova Pro)

As stated:

Tried LAV filters after uninstalling k-lite, didn’t work either.

That doesn’t make sense.

That is quite special. They claim to support surround sound in conjunction with their special software.
I’d try uninstalling that and treat the headset as just stereo.
Particularly disable “bitstreaming” in the Plex player and set its channel number to 2.0.

Do also verify the sound interface’s properties in the Windows settings and configure it to stereo only.

Uninstalled LAV, resstarted. Put headphones as 2.0, no dolby atmos for headphones on or Dolby DTS X. Just plain 2.0, no audio on AC3/EAC
In plex full stereo no bitstreaming, no audio

All the other forms of audio work just fine, just this doesnt.
