Many native Apple TV apps have a built in shortcut where you can open an in-app search box by double clicking the the Siri button on the Apple TV remote.
Obviously, you can access the Apple TV’s global Siri search feature by just holding down the Siri button, but the double click shortcut allows you to quickly access the in-app search page of whatever app you are currently using.
I find the in-app search in the Plex app is way more useful than the Apple TV’s global search, since Plex items don’t appear in the global search, but it would be much more convenient if there was a quick shortcut for accessing the in-app Plex search.
This double click for in-app search works in other 3rd party apps like YouTube, so I think it must be an open API that any developer can implement. It would be very convenient if this functionality were added to the Plex app.
I’ve also attached an image below of what the in-app search shortcut in the Youtube app looks like in case anyone is unfamiliar with this Apple TV feature.
