Request: Universal Search Integration on Apple TV

I have seen this come up in the General discussion area and a search didn’t turn it up in the Request forum. So I thought I would try my first feature request with it.

Request: Universal Search Integration on Apple TV

Scenario: I would like to be able to pick up my Siri remote, press the Siri button and request something like “Show me MovieX”. In the standard results, I would love to see Plex as an option along with items such as Netflix, iTunes, etc.

Reason: The concept of Universal search is amazing, especially for my Wife, Children, and other non technical users who could simply just find what they want, without having to navigate the many options available for media sources.

I don’t think this is going to be implemented that easily, Some developer might correct me if I’m wrong here but I think that it is Apple who decides in what application universal search will search.

You may be accurate. I am not a dev myself, but I know it is something Apple would have to allow for third parties. But I thought I would just make the request official if/when the ability for Plex to include it becomes available.

Tim Cook said that they will make this api useable for 3rd Party Devs in the near future. So at the moment it’s not possible, but i’m sure plex will implement this as soon as it’s possible

@Wunderwally Good to know. Thank you.
