Double episodes

I know this question has been asked many many times but I just can’t get this to work. Airwolf Season 1 comes with 13 episodes but the first 2 are a double episode so the naming guide has these as Airwolf S01E01-E02. When I put this into Plex it is only showing episode 1 and then the next episode is episode 3 which makes it look like Episode 2 is missing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong as I am following the naming guide

you got the naming guide wrong.
correct naming should be:
TV shows folder > Airwolf (1984) > Season 01 > Airwolf (1984) S01E01-02.ext

notice there’s no E for the trailing episode! (E01-02 instead of E01-E02)!

Thanks. I’ve tried that but it hasn’t worked

can you please describe the steps you took after renaming and your exact file name?

I appreciate that you are only trying to help but…
If you’re tell someone they are naming stuff wrong you may want to make sure it’s not you that’s wrong? https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/
The trailing “E” should be there… I wont even mention that for that particular show the year is not required. If the TVDB doesn’t show a year then adding one may not cause an issue but its still wrong. Airwolf - TheTVDB.com.
See the example in the first link how “Heroes” has no year.

I know this may not help your exact situation, but using Sonarr and Radarr to grab your content; it automatically renames your files so you have less headaches. Filebot is extremely good at getting it right so you have less issues.

You will run into more headaches if you do not include the year in the folder name.
Take a look here.

While some people may see an issue with Plex not matching. I see an issue where Plex will make an incorrect match. It’s much more likely without the year in the folder title…

I renamed everything according to what it should be, refreshed the library and its still wrong

Can you provide the exact path\filename.ext?
An example would be

Airwolf (1984)
..Season 01
....Airwolf (1984) - s01e01 - Shadow of the Hawke (1).mkv
....Airwolf (1984) - s01e02 - Shadow of the Hawke (2).mkv

or

Airwolf (1984)
..Season 01
....Airwolf (1984) - s01e01-e02 - Shadow of the Hawke.mkv

Failing anything else it may be worth trying the Plex Dance for the show.

The Plex Dance®:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. update library
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <— update library, empty trash, clean bundles
  5. bring names and structures into compliance/ or the ultimate bundle reboot operation
  6. replace corrected show/movie into library
  7. update library

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.

I have the exact same issue. Mine is Miami Vice. It starts with a double episode in one file (though Plex correctly shows it as Episode 1 and 2). When I then try to play episode 3, Plex will actually play Episode 4.

Plex will also use the associated Episode 3 subtitles on the actually played episode 4 file, and so forth down the line.

Without further information I would have to assume that your expisode files are not correctly named. i.e. episode 4 actually named as episode 3. Which would be why you would watch what is actually expisode 4 with epidose 3 titles whilst plex is telling you its expisode 3.

I would also assume, you are missing the media file for episode 3.
