Double NAT Issue

Hi All,

I am really sorry if this has been done to death but I cannot seem to find an option for my setup. I have my Plex server to work fine on all of my devices in the same WiFi network, but I cannot configure it to work outside the home network.

My biggest problem is that in UAE, the ISP provided router is locked and the password not shared. Because of this, I can only configure the modem which every device connects to wirelessly, but I cannot fix the double NAT issue I have.

Would be connecting my Plex server through Ethernet directly into the ISP’s router work?

Please bear with me as i am a Plex noob. All your support will be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Server Version#: 1.18.9.2578

I’m confused. If you can connect with WiFi, then it’s a router too. Is this different from the ISP provided router you are talking about? Do you then have your own router?

Hi,

Yes I have 2 routers. The ISP one goes into the WiFi router which my devices connect to.

Cheers.

If you already have the WiFi router, why do you use the ISP provider router too?

Hi,

The main internet line connects to the ISP router which is then ditributed by the WiFi router. I am sorry if i am not explaining this well?

Cheers

Ok, that makes more sense. If you can’t access the ISP router, there is nothing you can do to fix a double NAT. Your only option is to contact your ISP and ask if they can put their router into bridge mode. This will then give your WiFi router full control of your network and you only need to configure it.
