Double Nat? Only one Router....HELP

Been fighting this problem for days.

Past: Had a NAS that ran my media server but is now officially off and unplugged

Now: Created a new plex media server only problem is that says I have a double NAT issue. I only have 1 router and I don’t know why I’m getting this issue. Ive set a static IP, Ive opened ports on firewall, Ive port forwarded, Ive gotten rid of my VPN, literally tried everything… At this point I want to reset my server but i know that won’t do anything because it’s a network issue…am I truly missing something???

Server Version#: 4.43.4
Player Version#:

The second router could be

  1. at a central location in your building (if you have an apartment or dorm)
  2. at your ISP (in which case this is usually called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT )

Both cases are difficult to solve.

Case 1) requires you to be friends with the bulding manager, so the necessary port forwarding can be created in the router for the whole building

Case 2) can sometimes be solved, depending on the policies of your ISP.
Some will switch your account out of the CG-NAT if you ask them.
Some will only do so if you pay more money.
Some will let you create a port forwarding using some web form.
Some will refuse to do anything which would let you host your own server at home (like Plex).

I have this Carrier Grade NAT [double NAT] enforced on me as I’m using two bonded LTE modems.

To get round it, i use a “business” VPN provider that gives me a proper fixed IP address.

So long as i permanently route the Plex server via this VPN, it gets that fixed external IP address and all works fine

Check the specs of any VPN provider, they dont all give you a fixed IP and even fewer allow incoming traffic
