When playing a wide aspect ratio video, the player defaults to a view with black bars on all four sides (for some reason?):
After double tapping the screen, the video fills to full height. This has the effect of cutting off a fairly substantial amount of the left and right sides of the video:
What I would like is to be able to get the video to fill to the full width of the screen to maximise the used space and prevent any cropping, but this doesn’t seem to be possible:
Is there any way this can be achieved currently or added in the future?

N.B. I don’t mind losing the small portion of the video that is under the notch.
