Downloading latest version of plex media server from command line results in incorrect version

I receive notifications of an update in the plex webapp. I typically download them via wget on my server and install them there. Occasionally, the incorrect version is downloaded when using the “latest” link from the browser.

The command I use is:

wget --content-disposition "https://plex.tv/downloads/latest/5?channel=8&build=linux-x86_64&distro=debian&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

(note, the obfuscated token is literal, not a replacement by myself)

Currently, when I download using wget (or curl), I get version 1.41.2.9200-c6bbc1b53

When I download from my laptop browser, I get version
1.41.3.9276-8f15273fb

This is the current state as of 2024-12-07 13:16 PST. Possibly a caching problem?

Beta selection via browser versus default repo pull.

Makes sense! Any way to specify that via command line? Perhaps an extra header? Or is it tied to the account on the backend?

URL parameter channel=plexpass.

Awesome, thank you!
