Everyone working at plex knows it but it’s been ignored for a year now.
Downloads are unusable crap. No way to track progress, no way to delete files at scale, 0 connection to the actual experience.
Just downloading raw videos and using files app is vastly superior experience.
It’s unacceptable that such a core part of experience was released broken in redesign and nobody cared to fix it.
As someone who uses Plex at least 50% of the time when travelling with limited internet (either on planes or in different cities), downloads are the most important feature for me.
Since the early days of Sync, Plex has always had a substandard downloads capability. I do see the bones of a good solution, as they have the actual download mechanism working quite well, however this needs to be delivered along with a reasonable approach to the overall experience.
Fingers crossed some of the words that we’ve seen from Plex over the past few months, turn into functionality soon.
