Why can’t Plex create a reliable synchronization between devices?
I assume that they are more interested in pushing services such as paid music and paid advertising in videos, which is understandable, but also for all of us who have paid plex is like a slap in the face.
Don’t get me wrong, I have a PMS and upload everything that I think is valuable. Organizing the content and access on the PC is fine and I love it! Trouble begins - every time - when I plan to go abroad: synchronize.
They call it downloads now, but it doesn’t change, it’s just $hit.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not. It’s just not reliable. And every time I try to find out what is wrong, every part of any menu is different or has disappeared.
Today I can’t even find a way to synchronize a video playlist, it’s just not there!
It seems to me that Plex doesn’t care much about their paying customers.
What do you think? Am I just too dumb or what? (I don’t think so - but all of the stupid people say that :-))

I think the new Downloads suck big time, but it sucks a bit less than Sync. So, we are moving forward, I guess.
In my case, most clients are iOS devices, my big headache was because in the app there are 3 settings for Downloads, by default the first 2 are set to “Original”, but the third one is by default set to “Maximize Compatibility” and that causes most downloads to be transcoded for no real reason. The worst part is that the Download triggers a transcode, the transcode never finishes not sure why, then you try again and a new transcode for the same file is triggered and the first transcode is still there in the queue. At the end no transcode finishes and nothing is downloaded. If you change that third setting to “Original” then it works, most times.
But even if you are just doing a copy of the file, for unknown reasons the Downloads are super slow. Not sure why. Plex employees will blame my network but that’s not true.
In the mornings when I am leaving the house if I remember I do not have anything in my iPad to watch during the day I will go to Netflix or Prime, where I can download a whole season of a TV show in a couple of minutes. Plex can’t be trusted to Download even a single episode of something if you are in a rush. Plex employees will say you can’t compare Netflix with Plex because Netflix files are smaller and ready do be downloaded. Well, nowadays I have most shows in Plex in x265 so the files are small, if your app can’t copy 200MB in a matter or seconds from a local server then you must be doing something really wrong.
