@ChantalS: A feature request to do just that is here so you can vote for it.
I do see hope that this has gotten some attention since the intro skip does non-destructive identification and skipping, and in the last couple of months they changed the “Remove Commercials” option from a check box to a drop down - perhaps to allow that third option in the future.
