Apologies for the probable redundancies… I did search, and could not find a concise/clear answer.
I have a “spare” 918+ I want to use for Plex and a few other small services, but for now just Plex. My options, as I see them, are:
- The package listed in the package center - but that is out of date, and rarely updated
- The package I can download from plex.tv - up to date, and well supported, but THEORETICALLY has a larger security surface as it has not been checked by Synology, and isn’t contained by docker
- The official docker image from the registry
Which of those is the “official” or best supported method? #1 is out I think, #2 is cool, but #3 is likely getting more support because it applies to many more systems than just DSM. Also it’s arguably the most secure.
Unfortunately, none of the guides I can find are up to date and straightforward.
