DTS sound, CEC control

Hi all,

I got given a Pi for Xmas, discovered Rasplex and am totally blown away! This is the best media setup I’ve had, ever.

I’ve managed to deal with most of the little issues I’ve found but there are two I’d really appreciate some pointers with.

Firstly, DTS! I have some DTS encoded media that I’ve been able to play in DTS before. But via Rasplex, only Pro Logic is received by my speakers. My setup is: Pi to LG TV via HDMI, LG TV to speakers (integrated amp) via optical. I have ticked DTS capable receiver. Not sure what else to do.

Secondly, if I switch to the HDMI source with my TV remote, the CEC is not kicking in. I have to wake Plex up via an app remote, and the CEC promptly starts working. I have found that setting the physical address to 1000 rather than 0 (as suggested in another post) temporarily fixes this issue - but before long, the setting changes itself back to 0.

Like I said, any pointers very gratefully received. Thanks in advance guys

Not all TV manufacturers support passing DTS via Optical, have you checked the manual or LG's support site to check what is supported over optical out?

You could always remux your DTS to DD using any one of many free apps available for PC or Mac.

Have a look at my setup here, but be warned: DTS works nicely, where AC3 (Dolby Digital) sometimes does, and sometimes does not.  This all came about due to HDCP rules, but some modern tellies can definitely pass through Dolby Digiital, probably DTS, too.

Including (for both DD and DTS) Sony Bravia TV's which I have.
