Duplicate set of actors and directors from newer matches

This seems to be from new content I have added but there have been movies I know have actors in other content I own and I have not found them in there. Upon searching for that actor, the name appears twice. I did some checking and it seems to be with directors, too. Specifically, I pulled in Jingle All the Way 2 with Larry the Cable Guy and I found that that actor in that movie just showed up for that movie. A different “Larry the Cable Guy” showed up on all my Cars movies. The same thing with the director Brian Henson. I just added Muppet Christmas Carol and that Brian Henson as the directory did not include the other Muppets movies I have.

It is acting as if there would be a duplicate movie or song where I would have to split them apart but since that is not a part of this, I cannot do that.

Basically, it is not linking the actors and directors to existing content I already have on my server during the Match process.

It is only happening with new content but it is happening with all new content I add.

I tried unmatching or fix match’ing the movie but that did not fix the problem.

I really cannot think of a good set of search terms to browse the forum so I apologize if this has been asked. Nothing is showing up in the suggestions.

Plex have already commented on that some time ago. There’s been some changes in how they handle actors/directors (to the better) – refreshing the library’s metadata will fix this hiccup right away, otherwise you can simply wait for certain scheduled maintenance tasks to happen.

Plex is creating new/duplicate Tags for Directors and Actors that are already in my server

This is an expected side-effect of fixing a very old bug where we could not discern people with the same name and would always overwrite their data with the latest data from the most recently refreshed item. We now store people uniquely when adding new items or refreshing old items, but this won’t fix existing items until they are refreshed. We have also added checks that run at PMS startup and when running a database optimize that will correct duplicate items, so these things should self-corre…
