Hi
I think this began with the new update from a few days ago - but in any case, I’m using Plex agent to retrieve the date of films in a large collection.
I’ve noticed that the metadata is correct but that the director listing is creating a duplicate in my library.
For example - scanning a Mike Leigh film will tag everything correctly, including him as director but now when i do a search for director I get two copies of him. I’ve tried manually fixing it but the director info can no longer be deleted for that item.
Plex have already commented on that in a similar thread. This is due to some backend change on how Plex treats actors/directors – so a new item will already getting the “new” stuff while existing ones might not yet have been updated.
Refreshing the library metadata should fix it for you – otherwise it should fix itself in one of the next server maintenance windows.
Refreshing the library’s metadata shouldn’t overwrite your manual edits (except you removed the lock occurring next to the applicable fields when editing it).
Yeah
I’ve bitten the bullet and am refreshing. All seems good. And I knew that refresh “shouldn’t” cause over-writes but that side of Plex isn’t always reliable and 13k files is a ton to go back and massage.
In any case, it seems my worries were just worries.
