Hi, for some reason, DVDs have started to Dircet Stream and not Dircet Play. This is in the new style app on both LG and Roku. A recent example is below.
Any ideas?

Sorry for the late reply, it’s my parents player so only just got around there.
They have the Roku3 and the roku settings are fine and the Plex Preview app doesn’t appear to have any audio settings?? Is this a plex preview app bug, the old app was fine.
It is because the Roku isn’t support (or passing) 6 channel (5.1) audio. This usually happens either because of the TV settings or the app settings. The Plex app on the Roku reads what the Roku has detected the TV as being capable of doing.
In this case, it is seeing “Stereo only” and downmixing your 5.1 audio to stereo for the TV.

Yet all it seems to be doing is remuxing from mp4 to MPEGTS, the log shows it is copying the video and audio.
The difference in cpu load between Direct Play and Direct Stream (in the case when both video and audio streams are DS) is close to negligible.
Therefore this is not an issue, as long as it manages to play the video successfully.
The audiovisual quality is identical.
