Thanks for the update. I see that they have just removed the QuadHD from the list of supported devices.
Yes. The other version of the card will continue to work of course.
But it will only re-appear in the compatibility list, once both versions of the card are recognised.
it really sucks because as soon as I received the email, I bought the QuadHD because I didn’t wat a usb stick tuner. I thought I was absolutely crazy when it didn’t work and I checked the page again for supported devices and it was not there!
I ordered 1607. Dunno if this is even the number to differentiate the “good” quadHD from the “bad”, but will see. It should arrive in a few days.
PS: Does anyone now is there any configuration at all, where Plex eats CI module decrypted channels? eg. WinTV CI module with TVButler or with quadHD for dvb-t?!

I did the same exact thing I am glad I am also not crazy. I am pissed I bought a $100 card that is worthless for now.

Same thing happened to me, but it sounds like it won’t take long to support the other version of the card (hopefully).
In the meantime, you can always install NextPVR and add it’s recordings folders as a Plex Videos (not TV Shows) Library. It’s ugly, but it works, and I figure I can live with it until Plex gets the second card version support added.
Is there an ETA for when the 1609 QuadHD will be supported? I got it after I saw it on the supported list of devices but like anyone else says, it doesn’t work.
Well, crap. Glad I looked here. Like many of you, I was losing my mind between “am I doing something wrong?” and “I swear the Quad tuner said it was supported when I ordered this thing.” I’ll try to be patient with the dev team gets the 1609 version working.
I am in the same boat. Saw the support for QuadHD, bought one the same day. Installed, works great but PLEX cannot find it. I really hope they develop support for this card. I don’t feel like buying another.
This is me exactly (almost). I have the Ceton 6-tuner card and when I saw the announcement, was disappointed to see Ceton excluded. So, I put the WinTV-quadHD in my virtual shopping cart and was going to order it today. Thank goodness I didn’t buy on impulse (like normal). I’ll be following this closely to see if it gets added back in.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2250 and deiced to see if it would detect it and it did not. From what I read in this thread it will only look for supported devices . I was hopeing that it would detect it because there was other Hauppauge tuners. I have WMC setup and a auto sync but it would be better if I could have plex handle it all. I guess Ill wait for more supported tuners with the hope that mine shows up.
I also got the quadHD 1609 on announcement day. I found out after submitting the order that even with Plex support, it won’t work out of the box on my system which is Ubuntu 14.04 (with the 16.04 kernel, but that still doesn’t recognize the card variant).
So I built my own kernel based on mainline 4.9.30 to get an updated cx23885 driver. The card is properly detected (variant 57) by the kernel, but not by Plex yet – that said, my v4l2 install must have something not quite right, as there’s no /dev/video0 showing up for some reason. So still looking into this. I suspect that as long as the v4l2 driver presents the card to the rest of the OS, it should be picked up by Plex, as if it were a third party tuner not on the official supported list.
If I do get this working with an updated kernel, I may offer these kernel builds for Ubuntu 14.04 users on a use-at-your-own-risk (unsupported) basis. The only real drawbacks I’ve found are slower security updates (though I plan on building 4.9-stable kernels they day they’re tagged) and lack of aufs (Ubuntu’s default filesystem driver for docker, so you’d need to configure docker to use overlay2 instead, manually).
So looking through QuadHD models listed here I see the 1609,1607 & 1651 mentioned. I have just received a 1629 DVB-T/T2/C version purchased new in New Zealand (1629 is on a sticker placed over 1607 on the box). There seems to be a heck of a lot of model numbers floating around for the ‘same’ card. I will attempt to install it in my system tonight (win10) and see if Plex recognises it and report back.
My sky TV subscription will be done soon and I would love to use this as a replacement but without support for PCIe cards with DVD-S2 it’s not going to work for me.
I don’t have an aerial so rely on a satellite signal. Plus there are more channels available through DVD-S2 in the UK.
I am really stuck when it comes to this situation. I have used my Ceton PCI (6 tuner) with cable card for several years. I do subscribe to premium channels, so the cable card is necessary for those channels. But that is NOT all. MOST of the channels from my provider (Verizon FiOS) are NOT clear QAM. So even if I get a plain tuner card, that won’t be a viable option.
I “REALLY” would love to keep/use my Ceton. Not even so much about the money already spent. Simply put, there are NO REAL alternatives to the Ceton 6 tuner kit [PCI or ETH]. (# of tuners AND cable card support).
That being said, I have begun a search for other tuners. I am aware the FCC gave cable providers (in USA) the go ahead to move away from cable cards. And they are currently dabbling in using Roku’s as an alternative “set top box” when it comes to authorized equipment to receive signals. The choices for anyone looking to manage the costs of OTA or sub. cable are quickly drying up.
Off Topic…I have a Pinnacle USB tuner that pulls digital signals. Tested it with a PMS on Win10, and it was not found. /OT
