The new update(17.4.4017) now allows my card to record shows perfectly. There is however no live tv playback option. I know plex doesn’t support S2 as of yet but maybe in the future.
Note that Live TV is only available in the Android TV and iOS clients. Plex Web, and plain Android or other flavors (like Amazon Fire TV), don’t yet have live playback support.
Wow, thanks I hadn’t realised. I assumed it work with Plex web as it would be easiest to implement but I guess Android Tv is getting a big push.
I tried it out on my Nvidia Shield and it worked great after updating the plex app.

My Hauppauge card shows up as 1651XX-1/2 in the device manager (see attached). I’ve been working with NextPVR to date but really want to roll everything into one app/place. I’d love to trial PlexDVR to test that it both works with my card and that I like the functionality.
I don’t mind the subscription fee but I’d like to know if PlexDVR does what I need and it works with my hardware before making a purchase. How about a 2 week trial to circumvent a lot of this? Also, many of the links in this thread are not viewable without the PlexPass.
HELP!
Sorry, but Plex does not offer trials of Plex Pass. You should know quickly if the DVR is detected or not.
We are aware of 2 variants of the 1651 and both are supported. If you have a 3rd variant, that would be news to us. Please note that DVR is still a beta feature and may still have some issues. If you have concerns, you may want to wait until it is out of beta.

I’m currently running a TBS6205 quad tuner on my Plex server and would love to be able to use it via Plex instead of the ugly hack I have to pull now. So excited for potential BDA device support.
So what is the plan for PCI device support? I have my tuner working well with other software (still an ugly hack though) but I’d love to fold it in with the rest of my Plex media experience. I’m happy to test out anything developers want to toss my way if work is ongoing behind the scenes.
I agree with @teneightypea ! I have a hack as well that kinda works but would gladly trade for a plex dvr solution. I have the HVR-1600 (PCI). Hoping we get some joy soon from the Plex folks
I have a Blackgold BGT3500 and Blackgold DVB T2 /T/C - one of them is showing up on Plex as a WinTV-HVR-22XX. Seems to go through the set up OK (with the exception of no Freeview EPG yet and my transmitter isn’t on the list) but I haven’t actually tried to use it yet.

As I’ve mentioned before, the tuner works just fine in tvheadend, so the drivers aren’t a problem. The problem is related to Plex. I was sure of it before even seeing the first ‘no channels’ message. The scan takes ~ 2 minutes I think. That’s impossibly fast. No other scanner I’ve ever seen finds/scans channels that fast… Even those Plex users who didn’t have problems with their tuners reported longer scanning times. So there’s clearly something wrong with the way Plex scans for channels. Maybe it’s related specifically to my case (Romania/Cable/Digi), but something’s wrong with Plex if other apps on the same server have no problem finding and streaming channels.

I have a BlackGold BGT3620 I was thinking of trying out in my Plex box. Did you manage to get this to work?
Also, I see that the Hauppauge XBox One tuner is supported - I take it the official Microsoft one is not? As I have one of those too.
If it’s the case that there are tons of tuners out there with similar chipsets that might just work even though they aren’t on the official list, I’ll give these devices a try at some point!

I bought a PCIe Hauppauge WinTV QuadHD to try out in Linux. I plugged it in my desktop pc (Ubuntu), but couldn’t get it to detect any channels. I installed Windows and the Hauppauge WinTV application, it couldn’t detect anything either. I tried several different antennas and locations for the antennas, nothing.
Then I plugged it into my Plex Media Server/RAID PC running Arch Linux, and it worked straight away, and even picks up a channel that I can’t even tune in on my TV with the same antenna!
I thought it was odd that Plex detects it as 2 devices with 2 tuners each, rather than 4 devices or 1 device with 4 tuners. But it works very well. Thanks for another awesome feature for my Plex.
The only issue I have currently is that I can’t seem to access the DVR stuff via the Plex add-on for Kodi.
I have the WinTV-quadHD on Windows Server 2016 and can pick up channels through WinTv v8.5. My Plex server is on version 1.8.4.4249 and when I scan for Live TV / DVR it just continues to spin. I think it may be due to the fact that there is no Windows Media Pack for WS2016.
Has anyone else managed to get WinTV-quadHD to work on Windows Server 2016?
How did you do it?

Hi all,
For what its worth, I’ve finally managed to get live TV working with my Blackgold BT3620 with server version 1.9.0.4252, on my Windows Server 2012 R2 box, but I had to install the BDA plugging to get it to work.
So, considering the fact that both Plex and Hauppauge have failed to provide a solution to my problem, I’ve decided to find a workaround. So, if you’re in the same situation as me, install Tvheadend and the LiveTVH plugin and you’ll have access to your TV channels from Plex. It’s not perfect, but it’s something (that WORKS).
For what it’s worth, I’m so sick and tired of this company’s “MO”. They start something, lift it off the ground just a bit and then leave it for dead, unsupported. Happened with subtitles, happened with Plex for Kodi, happened with DVR, it just happens so often I’ve decided to ignore any further news. What’s the use in getting excited over a new feature if two months from now nobody’s gonna provide support for it? Screw it, I’ll just use Plex for its basic functionality from now on. Rant over.
@Nozavi - Sorry you didn’t get a response before. I don’t know Linux and had no idea what that error you posted earlier was. I asked around but no one had any clear ideas either. The best guess is that you are running a version of Linux that doesn’t support the Hauppauge drivers properly. Your logs shows you using kernel 4.10. Are you using Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty? That’s the combination shown on Hauppauage’s support page.
