DVR function for PCI-cards?

Just to add that I have a TBS Dual DVB-S2 PCI-e tuner .

  • The channels are detected and added no problem.
  • There is no play live tv option
  • The record function only records short clips at a time(4 seconds, 50 seconds etc) before stopping.
  • It appears as WinTv-quadHD in plex settings.

Having that device show up as something else is just odd. We don’t support DVB-S at all so I’m not surprised this isn’t working for you.

I received my 1607. Works out of the box.
Found two problems:
When one channels SD and HD streams are transmitted over same T2 freq and mux, Plex and WinTV always chooses SD. I have not found a way to switch between!
Also, why do I have to choose a country before scanning channels? As I can receive channels from three different countries, and Plex divides quadHD to two tuners, I can only watch feeds from two countries only. Same with the EPG languages. When one country broadcast in three different languages, I can only choose one language for EPG, all other channels will not receive any EPG when there is a language mismatch. Maybe there should be a country called European Union, etc. as our rights are managed centrally by EBU (European Broadcasting Union)

Shows the Quad hdtv tuner card as supported… I got it for fathers day and luckily the beta build for quad hdtv works for me!

Also mine is listed as a 1651xx-1 and 1651xx-2…

Would you support DVB-S2 PCIe?
This would be very nice!

Although I know my device (BDA Compatible) is not officially ā€œsupportedā€, it would be handy to know if it will be detected and can scan for channels without the need for purchasing a plex pass especially since it appears many people have got other non-supported devices working.

I’ve got the BlackGold BGT3630 DVB-T2/T/C/S2/S tuner so if anyone else has managed to get this up and running with plex, give me a shout .

When SAT>IP support is finished all cards with linux support will work via minisatip

I just updated to the Plex Media Server 1.7.4 and I just happened to see Plex DVR found pcie cards (none were found before). I started scanning for channel then I realized my HVR-1250 is detected as WinTV-quadHD. No OTA or QAM channels were found. I guess it’s time to upgrade.

The new update(17.4.4017) now allows my card to record shows perfectly. There is however no live tv playback option. I know plex doesn’t support S2 as of yet but maybe in the future.

My Hauppauge card shows up as 1651XX-1/2 in the device manager (see attached). I’ve been working with NextPVR to date but really want to roll everything into one app/place. I’d love to trial PlexDVR to test that it both works with my card and that I like the functionality.

I don’t mind the subscription fee but I’d like to know if PlexDVR does what I need and it works with my hardware before making a purchase. How about a 2 week trial to circumvent a lot of this? Also, many of the links in this thread are not viewable without the PlexPass.

HELP!

The fee is monthly. Why not just try it for a month and cancel if it does not work out for you?

Note that Live TV is only available in the Android TV and iOS clients. Plex Web, and plain Android or other flavors (like Amazon Fire TV), don’t yet have live playback support.

I just installed the update(1.7.4) on the machine that I use for DVR and it sees my Hauppauge WinTV HVR2250. Scanning channels as I type this…

It would get real expensive if I had to do that for every package I’ve had to try. Given the issues they’ve had, there should be a free trial OR a return policy if it doesn’t work.

Also, if I like it I’ll buy a lifetime subscription to save $$

Issues? Plex has been one of the most responsive and proactive software projects I’ve ever used. Not sure if what issues you could be taking about.

Expensive? Dude, it’s $5 a month to try it out.

DUDE, if I did this for every piece of software or service I’ve tried I’d be into this for more than $100. Plus I already bought a card based on their ā€œsupported listā€ for $100 that we’re not sure they support.

This is pretty standard stuff dude.

And any unused time in that month is pro-rated against a license upgrade. Wait 6 days, you’ll get about $4 credit against a yearly or lifetime subscription.

You can just wait for the next public release to test the quad card. I recall reading posts where people stated that card worked great with the 1.7.x releases. You don’t have to buy anything unless you want to see if it works right now with a Plex Pass release.

Thanks for the useful information. That’s been my concern is the support is questionable!

How do I track.watch for such a release?

I’m still surprised they don’t have a trial period…
