Having issues with plex and NAS hdhomerun works fine all by its self tested it on a gig 10/1000 network
Iv noticed that when i live stream off hdhome run my cpu load goes from avg 23% to 99% load checking the pid in the shell it shows the same when playing a movie off of the library cpu load drops to normal it just goes up on live tv over the air is there a fix for this
Don’t use a browser, use a Plex client that can direct play MPEG2.
If your NAS support Hardware transcoding this can also help.
As far as equipment i have is roku ultimate and desktop xeon ubuntu but plex not serving off that iv tested off the roku and tryed off firefox ubuntu with nvida gt 1050 ti card 24gb ram hardware should more then fine internally network speeds are aroujd 997 down and 875 up so bandwidth is not a issue and cpu is not as well router is a asus ax3000 but 90% of my stuff is lan only wifi if i have no choise
One of the things that made me stop using the HD-Homerun is that it was only 100mb and it would cause the subnet to slow down. So I created it’s own subnet and that worked better but it was a pain to maintain. So I stopped using it all together.
Maybe the newer ones are faster, I haven’t checked…
Without HW transcoding, Live TV needs a CPU with a passmark score near 2000 per stream, that router is not it.
Browsers do not decode MPEG2, thus a server transcode is required.
For the Roku, make sure the allow MPEG2 is checked (not on by default): Settings: Plex for Roku | Plex Support
