I noticed in the article ian.spencer links to it specifically mentions the patents are for navigating TV content “online”, this may be why STB’s can get away with it while the likes of Netflix and Plex have to challenge it first, an STB’s EPG is not online content. My 2 cents anyway. Sorry if someone else has said this but I didn’t have time to read all the posts.

Yup that the good thing about SageTV it very reliable it may not be the pettiest thing but it gets the jobs done I know had it run for 14 years.
Yes I know all about Emby but it doesn’t have any PC USB or PCI/PCIe ATSC tuner card support build in you have to use 3rdparty apps like MediaPortal, NextPVR or ServerWMC which are unreliable.
this is freely available online without any login http://tv.sky.com/tv-guide in the UK. I can’t easily see if anything is missing until I can at least look at time schedules by channel
Yes, a grid-style layout would be much better. I have to use the HDHOMERUN app or Live TV on Kodi as Plex is too difficult to see what is on and when.
Just like Emby:
So has any news come up on this
