DVR Schedule and the Menu key on Apple TV 4K

Server Version#: 4.12.3
Player Version#: Latest available for tvOS

When using the Plex app on Apple TV, I expect to tap the Menu button and go up one level. When I’m in the Plex App for tvOS, however, and looking at the DVR Schedule, the only way to get back to the header choices is to scroll all the way to the top. Tapping Menu incorrectly takes you back to the side panel. I should be able to tap Menu to get to the menu bar, just like it works in other areas of the app. It should only return to the side panel from the header location, not the DVR Schedule content.

Bug or feature request?

I believe this will be fixed in the upcoming release that’s currently in beta.

Thanks for the fast reply. I assume you’re referring to the tvOS app, not the Plex Server?

Thank you! I’ve also noticed this.

I’m still checking on this: you may still get taken back to the sidebar (Live TV / DVR) but when SELECTING that again, whatever is going on on the right part of the screen should be reset to the top, be it the DVR Schedule, the Grid Guide, etc. You then navigate right and you should be much better off

And yes, this is the beta tvOS app, not the server.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. I’ll look forward to having it behave as it should in the next release of the app.

What I described is how it is meant to work.

I agree that’s how it should work, but when I tried your suggestion, I still have the same problem.

Can you please post the app version installed and the exact steps to replicate?

Another nice touch would be that when you navigate away from the EPG and come back that it remembers where you left off. To have to scroll from the top all the way down every time is frustrating.

Yes, the best way to navigate away from the guide is to use the left “arrow” button to go all the way to the left of the screen and bring up the sidebar navigation. If you do that, and then return to the Live TV & DVR screen later, the focus will automatically scroll back to your previous position in the guide.

If you use the back/menu button to navigate away from the EPG then yes, it will scroll back to the top of the guide first, bring up the sidebar, and then allow you to more easily navigate to the Live TV & DVR “tabs” at the top of the screen.

This is the intended behavior for consistency across Plex apps/platforms.

Unfortunately on the Apple TV remote there is no left “arrow” button. A left swipe does not do the same on Apple TV 4k. It automatically scrolls to the top of the guide when swipe left to the side bar.

Does for me, I just tested it with the Apple TV 4K remote. Keep swiping to get to the far left of the screen.

Thanks for checking it out…I’m running version 2.14 (14373) and can’t reproduce what you have just been able to do sadly. When you scroll down to other programs and then swipe left to the side bar, the whole EPG guide scrolls back to the top.

What are you doing exactly?

I select the Live TV & DVR in the sidebar, then choose guide…scroll down to a program, swipe left back to sidebar and as I’m doing this, the EPG scrolls quickly to the start again. Maybe it’s a problem with the ‘test flight’ version?

We’re running the same version (14373).

Very odd >:/

I can try and do a video if you would like?

No I believe you, but one thing:

What happens if once you bring up the sidebar (and you see the guide go to the top), you go to another screen, then return to the Live TV & DVR?

Have done that last step?? Actually return to the guide?

No, it still the same behaviour and yes I just tried what you suggested. Of note, it just worked once, but, I can’t reproduce it to work again.
