DVR Transcode IGNORED on HDHomeRun Prime

I have turned on the option to transcode, but the resulting files are .TS files and not MKV

Here is what the log says:

I am running Plex as a service in Windows Server 2016.

I am running with a Intel i7-3615QM, which does support Intel Quick Sync Video.

What am I missing?

This link is not very encouraging:
https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-enable-hardware-accelerated-transcoding-when-running-as-a-windows-service

I suggests that acceleration is not available if Plex is run as a service.

I’m running on ReadyNAS, but I have observed similar behavior. I can see that it’s doing transcoding. It totally slams the CPU during recording. But after all that it winds up spitting out .TS files. Well, that’s pretty pointless. :frowning:

The ts is the container for the audio and video streams. The video codec contained in the ts file should be h264 if you are using the experimental transcode feature for the tuner device. If you want to remux the container I would suggest creating a post processing script to remux the ts container to mkv, mp4, or whatever container type you prefer. Since the internal video will have already been transcoded to h264 the remux should take very little time to process.
