DVR - Watch From Start - Why doesn't it work on Android TV clients?

If Space-X can land a rocket without wings then I’m confident the Live TV & DVR issues will be fixed on Android early this year. Including the issue where the EPG doesn’t automatically advance with time when using XMLTV (Firestick).

I want whatever kegbeach is drinking

Don’t worry @elan it is so far fetched, nobody would believe it.

Can turn up to throw out the rhetorical Q… but then doesn’t clear anything up or provide an update on the issue.

Read the room mate, no one reading that reply thinks this issue or you are funny/clever by posting that.

Get your marketing team to vet your posts going forward (or lock your account), your customer facing skills need some work… unless your aim was to piss off your client base (further).

Getting this too with shield pro.

Please can we have an update on this @elan ? It’s now been 10 months on this latest downtime.

Lest we forget:

I’m guessing the Title may indicate the topic of concern " DVR - Watch From Start - Why doesn’t it work on Android TV clients?" ?

FireTV Stick 4K as well. You choose “Play From Start” for an in-progress recording and it plays live instead. Super efficient way to spoil sports events that you looked forward to watching. Going to be super “great” for the upcoming Olympics. How long do paying customers have to wait for Plex to fix an easily reproducible problem?

We’ve now made it through the entire regular NFL season without a fix for this, and now we’re in the playoffs. Still, barely an acknowledgement from Plex that this issue exists, much less any update that they’re working to solve it.

I know Plex, you get upset if our posts get too rude. But really, a Plex employee closes a previous thread where this was reported and tells people to start a new thread which we do – only to have Plex ignore it for 10 months other than an extremely infrequent “we don’t have anything new”. And we’re the problem? Please provide an update. A “we have nothing new” won’t cut it. Information from management and/or the development team should be sought so that a meaningful update can be provided.

Is it hard to fix? Have you decided not to support Live TV/DVR in Android anymore? We don’t know because you don’t tell us anything. How do you expect the users to react?

@anon18523487 @DaveBinM @ChuckPa @sixones How bout some fresh air on this?

OR perhaps Plex is gonna keep letting the Android users suffocate…

Well. I’m not sure what has happened, but I have been able to watch from start for the last 2 days! Fingers crossed it’s fixed!

What version of player/server are you using? AndroidTV or FireTV?

Don’t gaslight the Android users. This absolutely 100% does not work on Android.

In our investigation so far, we’ve discovered it’s a race condition, so there are times where it does work, and others where it doesn’t.

What does that mean? does it it work for minorities? or only white people?

Enforce locking so the operation remains atomic. If you know where it is and what other thread is interfering this should be good to go.

A race condition is where two or more separate threads running concurrently try to read/write the same variable/memory location/database entry at the same time and depending on your hardware and the state of each thread one may finish before the other causing undesirable results.

In the security world these are not good to have as an attacker could cause a program to do undesired things like popping a shell or causing a DoS in certain circumstances.

was Sarcasm …
It’s Plex’s lack of interest to fix…

LOL, well I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
