Hi, I have a sony xg950 tv, my problem is that with the videos with eac3 audio and the optical output through passthrought audio and video is transcoded and I lose the hdr. Without using the optical output makes direct play and hdr ok but stereo sound … Anyone know any solution ?.thanks
Optical does not support Eac3, so to have support you need HDMI 2
I didn’t know that, but why does plex transcode the video? The video looks without HDR with bad colors.
Do you have subtitles enabled?
On Android TV devices, transcoded audio + subtitles forces a video transcode. Plex does this to keep video, audio, & subtitles in sync with each other.
Exactly as you say, turning off subtitles does not transcode video, I only use forced. Thanks for the trick. I have done another test, in plex of kodi, it reproduces all direct play and in 5.1. eac3. So the limitation is the plex player. A solution would be good, because the plex player interface of androidtv is much better.
