Editing Meta Data - Who owns my metatdata?

I have had the frustration of moving about 400 films from one drive to another and having all the meta data rebuilt. As I had changed all the ordering fields to language, it means that I have to individually re-assign the language to get the clustering I previously had.
Is there a way of doing this? Or, is there an accommodation of folders - e.g. Asian Films would all be displayed (in alphabetic order) then followed by french or whatever. This is what I had and it worked pretty well as a means of organising the films.

Anyone from Plex able to clarify?
Thanks,
Nick

There was no need to rebuild the metadata?! As long as you don’t empty the trash after the files were moved, you could have just changed the library folder to the new one and everything would have been like before.

As per @Coxeroni , there is a guide somewhere in the help section on how to translocate your media without losing the metadata. I don’t have the resources to look for the link now, but it it boils down to “copy, don’t move, force plex to see both versions, then delete the old copies”.

many thanks, I will try this.
I must say though that I would like to have as much contol of meta data on mp4’s as i do on mp3’s.
at presnt it seems to be a property of Plex.
