End Credit Skip!

Ok, final question. Can you share any fun hints about things in the works?

There are always tons of improvements happening on the data side and on PMS but there’s one upcoming feature that we’ve decided to share with you and that’s end credit detection. We’re adding support for credit markers and soon you’ll be able to skip watching the credits that you’ve already seen multiple times before moving on to your next episode.

From the Plex Pro Week Metadata post.

I’m curious if it’s going to be a dumb credit skip, marking a single place at the end which skips the entire rest of the file. I’d rather like it to be more like intro skip, which has two mark points, as a LOT of shows are doing post-credit sequences (anime) which are important to the show plot.

It won’t be dumb, it’ll take into account mid or post-credit scenes

That’s awesome news. Thanks Dave.

When I read the blog post earlier my initial reaction was, will intro and end credits be separate options in the server settings ?

So an admin could choose to detect intro or end credits or both.

Yes, it’ll have a separate setting, like intro detection

Nice, thanks.

I’m sure development have considered this but said I’d mention it anyhow.

Plex will mark episodes as watched when it passes the 90% mark. For short shows < 20 minutes which have a few minutes of end credits sometimes plex will leave them as partially watched if you exit, due to the fact 90% has not passed.

Any skip end credit should account for this scenario.

Would love if this used the credit marker to consider a movie “watched”. I was watching something last night and Plex marked it watched even though there were 15 minutes left…

Based on the time left in your video, I assume it was a movie. And movies do not plan to have a credits skip, since there is no other movie file to compare to to detect end-credits.

Movies will have Credit Detection, it’s very handy for post-credit scenes, or just finishing up a movie and moving on to the next in the series

Whaaaaaaaaaat?
*sound of mind blowing*

Oh, hey, can we get more control over triggering Intro/Credit Skip? I’ve got a few shows (Countdown) where the intro skip avoids the ~10 seconds of intro, and instead offers to “skip” the 30 seconds of music that plays during the game itself.

I believe it happened for Countdown because half of the intro is a voice-over introducing the players for the day. Since the cast changes daily, skip intro won’t skip this part. 10 minutes in, the first game round starts, where it plays a distinctive jingle (think Final Jeopardy music theme) with no talking. This is often detected as the intro for the show.

I’d like the ability to force the server to “re-analyze” the episode for an intro, perhaps with different parameters that restrict it to the first few minutes of the show. Failing that, I’d like a way to simply delete the intro and prevent it placing bad intro-skip markers.
