Ending Audio Cutting / Playback Pausing in Latest Update

Since an update ago (just updated now but same problem) two things started happening, the worst is TV episodes I’ve watched many times without issue (through the browser) suddenly stop and seem to buffer (all on gigabit lan) every few minutes. Episodes of Star Trek DS9 that I’ve watched literally dozens of times have started doing this. The only fix is to stop playback and start again.

The other weird thing I noticed is shows that don’t do this - I’m watching Friends right now - but the last few seconds of audio, ranging from the last 5 to last say 60 (not being specific with those numbers) just stops playing. The video keeps going, audio is in sync during playback but it just stops at the end.

In both cases the server shows the video is Direct Play but the audio is transcoding. My server is pretty powerful, specs:

8086k @ 5.2Ghz all cores
32GB Ram
1TB NVMe OS drive
56TB disk array (7200 rpm drives, 400mb read/write)
Gigabit lan
iGPU hardware transcoding

Anyone else seeing this? I searched but didn’t find anything. I’m a very avid user and was watching DS9 when the latest upgrade was applied and it was NOT doing this before that upgrade (again it was the one before this current one, just updated as I posted this).

I’m getting similar issues. Make sure you add your logs in where you can.
Please add any info that will assist plex support.

i too am having the same issue and can confirm it happens to me with friends eps as well. i have added a log for the ending sound being cut off.

should be able to reproduce this with most friends eps just skip to the last 2 mins and wait

i found enabling the " Use alternate streaming protocol for video playback" under settings-debug seems to fix the no sound at ending of videos so far

Tried that on my laptop (where I watch most) and ALL sound went away. I didn’t dig into it too much but putting it back my sound came back, but the end of Friends are still being cut off.

Any idea what is going on here? Is this some feature that’s misbehaving? I can’t imagine what would affect the end of the audio stream on specific Friends episodes while transcoding the audio. And why are my DS9 episodes stopping/buffering constantly??
