Which kind of client are you playing this on?
Web on a laptop, or mobile on my phone, or plex client for a firetv.
The thing is, that file isn’t one I was testing for playback.
I had been testing with the movie Die Hard.
Your log files are swamped with library scan and metadata update messages.
Please repeat the test after any library update activity has finished.
Then please note down which movie was played at which time.
Fetch logs files max. 5 minutes after the test.
I’m not surprised.
I’ve tried to limit library scan times but it’s a large library. I’ll see if I can replicate.
Last night I found that TV show playback was taking forever, but once it started it seemed to be ok.
That was via mobile client on android.
When you test again, check in your activity on the server dashboard and see what’s playing,. You should see it showing “Direct Play” for audio and video. If there are subs it could potentially trigger the transcode, so pick something without. On the client, see what your settings are, i.e., Max for local, and Force Direct Play.
I try to ensure Direct Play is set on anything that is capable of directly playing HEVC, etc.
I’m comparing previous behavior with current behavior after taking a PMS update.
@OttoKerner FInally had some time to test. Watching Top Shot season 3 on mobile client (latest as of 12/19/21) via WLAN.
I have to press play, exit out, press play, repeat until the file begins to play. It plays as direct play when it finally does play. This is repeatable behavior. If I pause the show sometimes I have to repeat that action to get it to play again.
