English requested, but default recorded subtitles are Spanish

Server Version#: 1.41.0.8994
Player Version#: 1.102.0.230
Since this new TV season has started up my off the air recordings seem to have Spanish Subtitles by default (I do not speak Spanish). In the player the subtitles are "Unknown (Closed Captions), and the server preference is English. I can go to the player and turn off subtitles, and then restart them again, and they miraculously appear in English. Thoughts?

Interestingly enough this only seems to happen with NBC… no one has any thoughts?

I’d start by investigating the recorded file with an external tool, like MediaInfo
See if shows only one subtitle stream, or several of them.
If there are several, and they are not tagged with a language, then Plex might simply have enabled the first one. Without any information about which stream is in which language, there is not much it can do.

If you only see one subtitle stream, but you can initially see Spanish subs and after disabling and re-enabling they are suddenly English it might be a little bit more complicated:
There are different ways to deliver subtitles. So-called “closed captions” can be included in the video stream. These are sometimes not recognizable by Plex.
Then, additionally, in digital TV there can be separate datastreams for more subtitles.
What you are experiencing might be that you see the embedded closed captions first, and the separate, dedicated subtitles stream after disabling and re-enabling subtitles.
