I have realized that many series name the chapters in Spanish in a more exact and correct way in TMDB than in TheTVDB, and the order of the chapters is better, so for the naming of the chapters of all my series, I use TMDB.
The problem is that when you choose the order of the episodes (by editing the series you want), there is only one option for TMDB: “The Movie Database (Aired)”. Other options appear for TheTVDB, such as “Aired”, “DVD” or “Absolute”. However, on the TMDB website there are several possibilities to choose from (for example, for the “Futurama” series): “DVD Order”, “Digital Order” and “Production Order”. It is this last one that fits my library.
Is there a way to select the possible options that exist for TMDB as it happens with TheTVDB?
Plex currently only supports the “default” (aired) episode ordering from TMDb.
There’s a feature suggestion asking for Plex to support more alternate orderings from both TVDb and TMDb.
But the 2.5 years that have passed since the opening of the thread without official response, makes me understand that they will NEVER implement it and I don’t understand why.
You understand that wrong
Plex don’t usually comment on feature suggestion unless they have questions to clarify what they’re about. A suggestion not being rejected means it’s somewhere on a list… though that doesn’t mean it’s being made a priority or actively worked on.
I have seen on the TVBD website there are the following options:
Aired Order
DVD Volumes
Absolute Order
streaming order
Production Order
In the case of Futurama, it is the “Production Order” that matches the Wikipedia episode listing.
However, when editing the series in Plex, there is no “Streaming Order” or “Production Order” to choose from. It would be easier to correct that than to implement the system in TMDB…
TVDb default orders are Aired Order, DVD Order and Absolute Order – the rest seem to be custom orders which users have created at one point or another. Adding those custom ones is part of the suggestion linked above.
