Episodes erroneously being marked as watched

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252 UNRAID Plex Media Server Logs_2020-09-21_22-10-22.zip (3.5 MB)
Player Version#: Various; Shield, Apple, PS4

I have a problem where shows are getting marked as watched & part watched. Other shows that family members are watching are being recorded as watched on my Shield. Shows I’ve never seen and shows I have seen but episodes that I, according to Tautulli aswell, have never been watched. As far as Tautulli is concerned I have watched what I think I’ve watched.
If I check the Plex Play History though, some of the episodes that I haven’t watched but are flagged as such have no player or platform details, but they do have a date and time. There are other episodes that are not listed as having been watched in the log, but I marked those as unwatched on the TV.

Now I check the Play History for a family member that is watching one of these shows that I am not, and their Play History log is showing they watched it a little over an hour before I, supposedly, did. So I know it’s not that they have my login details, I’m damned sure nobody does as even I don’t know what they are, it’s Lastpass saved.

This has started happening in the last few days, since the new Player Gui. I’m not blaming that, but I have updated to it, if that matters.

For helping with the logs one show is Pose, another Brooklyn 99. I’ve noticed others, shows poping up on deck or continue playing, but they could be anomalies. But those two for sure.

Sorry, there is no useful info in your logs, because “debug logging” is not activated on the server.

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server

Monitor the issue.

Have you installed the old trakt.tv plugin? If you have, disable it for now. It cannot be configured anymore.

When you say old trakt.tv plugin? I do have Tract.tv plugin installed to help me with a recent PMS re-install that I did a few months ago. That was install via the WebTools plugin, not sure if this still counts as the old one?

Plugins in general are “old”. They have been announced as being deprecated quite some time already. And support for them has been removed / limited continually.
So, while you still are able to install them manually or with WebTools, you cannot use a lot of them properly anymore.
And the trakt plugin requires you to create filters. Otherwise it will scrobble the playbacks of your shared users as your own. But since you cannot access the user interface of the plugin anymore to create this filter, all you can do now is to disable/uninstall it.

I have to say I can still get to the plugin configuration interface and setup filters just fine.
However, you may have a point, and I’ve disabled this plugin. Thing is it’s only just started happening and Trakt has been installed for months. But we’ll see.
