Equalizer for Music

I looked but couldn’t see anything with this topic.

I really enjoy using Plex for my media. I just loaded my music library as i was sick of iTunes never working and sending music while on my Apple TV or any other device.

One thing that i do not like about the Music feature is the lack of equalizer’s or ways for me to tweak the music playback like i can with Music Programs or other apps i play my music library on. I have looked on the server and on my front end, but haven’t found anything like this as of yet…unless i am missing something, which is quite possibly the case. The only thign close i have seen is to change the remote auto quailty which has helped but still not the “oomph” i am looking for.

How are you looking to use this / where do you feel such a feature should be?

The server (backend) just sends out the stream. I’ve not seen any of the Plex players have any such setting either because home theater systems / receivers have the custom controls right there already preset by the user. To me, it makes sense to let the audio equipment / end player, which is connected to the speakers, make any adjustments (at the hardware level). One exception I’ve seen to this is VLC. Because of its engine (decoder/converter/player all as one integrated piece), can read and perform processing on the way through to the output. Its ability to provide ‘oomph’ is limited by the speakers / base computer.

There is no equalizer type feature in Plex. It’s kind of rudimentary compared to some other systems when it comes to music.

If you look at my SIG you can see I’ve got a decent size system but no one hardly ever plays music from my libraries. I’ve been thinking of pulling my music library from Plex since it’s never used by anyone but me and I could access it many other ways. The only exception is maybe a couple of users around Christmas time or to play some Jazz during dinner time through some people’s Rokus sort of like you would from Stotify.

Plex isn’t very strong when it comes to music unfortunately. I don’t mean to be negative but it’s the truth. Plex is known for video not music. Things were looking better when they added the music videos but after they lost the 3rd party contract it went kind of back down hill.

I certainly wouldn’t build a Plex system around music but if you have other media as I do and have music then it may be worth adding. If you are an audiophile Plex isn’t for you (at present).

Thanks Cayars. I was just curious. I love it for music and when i loaded my music library i was sad to see not as many options

I agree. I use Plex for all of my media and music is actually the most important to me.

Although an equalizer would be nice, I’d at least like to be able to fast forward and rewind. Duh.

The iOS app I presume? I don’t have any trouble in web or iOS. Which app can you not FF or RW?

I cannot ff or rw in Plex Media Player.

I play multi-channel flac files through PMP.
