External Audio Tracks for Movies

With commentary tracks from RedLetterMedia and Rifftrax being popular, I would love the option to play these as separate audio to the normal audio.

I am aware that I can remux a file to make this work, but running plex of a network PC makes remuxing a file quite the chore, and when new audiotracks releases from my favorite source, I don’t want to spend an hour downloading, muxing and reuploading and cleaning out old files from my server.

It is currently far easier for me to stream the files from my laptop via VLC (doing this: https://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_HowTo/Play_an_external_audio_track_for_a_video/ and this: https://www.howtogeek.com/118075/how-to-stream-videos-and-music-over-the-network-using-vlc/) than it is doing the remux workaround.

Since Plex is my prefered media player, I would want to use it for playing movies. But currently too much hassle for it to be worth my time. (Currently 675 Rifftrax tracks and I have 240 DVD commentary tracks on storage, I am not going to remux 900 movies by hand)

It seems to me that Plex should not do this as it is a tiny minority that would benefit from the addition and I see a high potential for bugs being introduced any time you allow for the potential of manipulation of the video or audio streams.

If I felt there was a large number of people that would want and use the feature then I would not feel so negative about the addition of a feature but I do not feel that more that a tiny minority of Plex users would want, need or use the feature.
