Just an idea foe you guys/girls.
Are you looking into having your own version of an itunes store. because where as itunes and google play movies etc don’t allow you to use the purchased movies in plex. if plex had its own dedicated store, people could legaly purchase and download movies that will play on there plex media service and keep them forever
There’s a rather dated suggestion for Plex to build such a store – community interest in this seems to be quite low.
Especially when mot people today download there movies. It could work similar to iTunes where by the moves purchased can be played on up to 3 authorized devices. this will save having to buy a dvd to copy it to plex. Maybe a trial run to see how it would work. or send everyone who has a plex account a survey form to gauge interest.

And I can sympathize with that… but when you consider the kind of streaming media Plex gets from the content providers, you might wonder if they could get anything close to what you have in mind to actually sell. I’m not even talking about the expressed wish for DRM-less files.
I just don’t think it’s realistic at this time — though I’d love to be proven wrong
