[FEATURE REQUEST] Ability to Customize "Discover" Page

I really wish Plex would give me the option to add some custom sections to the “Discover” page in Plex apps. Some example uses of this could be:

  • Seasonal Categories (the ability to have a “Summer Flicks” or “Holiday/Christmas Flicks” or “Horror Flicks” for Halloween)
  • Movies Released on this Date (would show all movies that were released on today’s month and day… i.e. 2/19/xx)
  • Trending Movies (would show movies that are trending socially)
  • Movies on Now (would lookup TV guide and show movies that are airing currently on TV)
  • Upcoming Succession Films (would show films that have an upcoming theatrical prequel/sequel release)

These are just some examples of what could potentially be done. I know a buddy of mine thought highlighting major actors/actresses birthdays and listing their films on their birthdays would be cool.

The point is, I think Plex would be far more engaging (and awesome) if it could do a better job curating content in my library. The “Discover” section is incredibly limiting (only shows on deck/recently added/recently aired). Even if we didn’t have the ability to customize the discover section… putting “smart” playlists (or whatever you want to call them) like the examples above would help people find what they want to watch.

I can’t imagine this would be too difficult to implement and it would really make the Plex experience far better IMO. I’m really hoping the devs were already working on something similar and it’s just taking some time to make it to a release. Calling the current “Discover” page a place to discover content is a stretch. This page is in desperate need of enhancement!

Please up-vote, and and even if this doesn’t get the number of votes needed to make it on the roadmap, I hope someone with some common sense on the Plex team will see this and agree it would be a worthy (and low effort) addition to Plex.

+1 if we can select a “default library” which is selected instead of all libraries… (I only have one)

Discover page is a good new feature and like the watch-list, but would like to be able to customize, to only see content that I have access to or at least limit what other services I see and be able to reorder the categories. For example put my related service categories at the top, or change category “Trending Trailers” to “Trending Trailers on my services” etc… |Looking forward to new update on this feature, think it has great potential

This is an old feature request and does not apply to the new “Discover” feature in Plex.
