Currently there is no east way to download photos or video’s that have been uploaded to the Plex server.
This is required where you want to email or post photos / videos to Facebook, Instagram etc.
The sync option here does not work in this scenario as it places the content in the Plex folders and is not accessible from other apps.
There have been numerous discussions about including this feature over the years but there has been no traction.
Can someone in the Plex team shed some light on why this is? No demand? Too hard? Other plans in the works?
Thanks
David
Would be interested to know how other Plexors download photos and video’s to share with other websites?
Plex isn’t a file hosting/sharing setup, it’s for streaming media content. By design it’s not going to allow you to download content. If you want to share your media on youtube/facebook/etc, put the content in a dropbox/google drive/etc and set up public sharing.

Isn’t this already possible in the newest iOS release of Plex? I recall reading something like that in the release notes.

So, Plex is so ideologically stuck on being a streaming thing, that you can’t think outside the box of how useful (actually fundamental) that might be to all the users?

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate
I think it would be a good idea if it were possible to add a direct download button to the photo viewer / player. A direct download button would allow for easy sharing of an individual photo. Perhaps an option to download an entire album / folder in zip format could be implemented too.
