[Feature Request] Allow downloading photos

I need to be able to download photos, e.g. to be able to send them to a digishop to turn them into actual physical pictures.

The things it could do:

  • download currently viewed photo
  • download all the “checked” photos
  • download a folder
  • do all this for Plex Home libraries (that are shared amongst Home members, who are using Plex accounts)
  • when it’s more than one photo, it would make sense to put them into a store-only ZIP archive to only download one file (and to have some basic checksumming).

I want to move away from Zonerama, but the lack of this feature makes it hard to “sell” Plex as a photo gallery to other family members. Sync unfortunately doesn’t help, I need my Plex Home members to be able to download through their web browser. I don’t mind Home members being able to download the photos, because I/we took the photos ourselves anyway.

I’ve been looking for this myself, I created a digital family photo library and while everyone loves viewing/browsing them they’re unable to download/print them. This is quite frankly unacceptable. I can see why syncing of possibly copyrighted material is restricted to some extent, but personal photos? This is partly why I’m considering and evaluating other software. One has to wonder if the developers of Plex are robots without parents/family and they therefor cannot understand that relatives may want to be able to download photos from a library…

I am not sure if this is what you are referring too but the latest webapp lets you download the photos individually. Just open them up and click the … and select download. It seems to work for videos too.

Not sure about multiples, but in addition to the web app that evilnone mentioned, the iPhone app will let you download the currently viewed photo. You open the photo and just hit the little “send” button (the box with an arrow coming out the top) and then hit save (or email or message or whatever you want to do with it).
